Best Bread Machine Bread

best bread machine bread 1When I read this recipe on AllRecipes, I was curious. It went against everything my bread machine's manual said to do. And I wanted to try it anyway, what did I have to lose except three cups of bread flour and a little time. Not even that much time, more like ten minutes of active time and three hours of dealing with the house smelling wonderful. Of course C was at the Aggie game, which is a 2 hour drive each way, so the smell wouldn't torture him.  After I tasted this bread, I am unsure that I will ever go back to my bread machine's instructions.  It was perfectly baked. And Miss F has homemade sandwich bread for her lunch all week.
Best Bread Machine Bread

1 cup warm water
2 tablespoons white sugar
2 ¼ teaspoons yeast
¼ cup vegetable oil
3 cups bread flour
2 teaspoons salt

Place the water, sugar and yeast in the pan of the bread machine. Let the yeast dissolve and foam for 10 minutes. Add the oil, flour and salt to the yeast. Select the white bread setting and press start.

I want a bread machine! But I hate the smell. I know, I'm crazy!! My mom still uses her bread maker all the time - I just sent her this recipe!

@Lauren Thanks! As long as I have time to take the picture...I feel like I can get a good shot. But I am normally rushing to get dinner on the table...with waiting a hungry husband and toddler.

Great picture! You've sold me on a bread machine. I saw about a billion of them at yard sales this summer. Picking one up in the spring for sure!

I stopped using my bread machine book after I found this on allrecipes, too! It is perfect, every single time.

@Kelsey Thanks so much! I have been shooting in manual mode and I am learning as I go. Miss F has started school three days a week and I have LOTS of free time now.

I am constantly making bread in my bread machine, since my hubby is such a carb-a-holic. This is by far the best basic recipe I've tried. I was able to cut the bread into thin slices without it falling apart and it was so, so yummy. Also, I loved the fact that I didn't have to check and stir during the mix cycle like I frequently have to.

Looks lovely! Can I add dried fruit or chopped nuts to this? Would that affect the lightness of this loaf?

This recipe makes wonderful bread without a ton of ingredients. I use my breadmaker on the dough setting and then make my breads in loafs or even cinnamon rolls. This recipe will make one medium loaf and six cinnamon rolls.

Some time back, I bought a Zojirushi bread machine and this was done only after going through dozens of reviews about it. Yet, I was disappointed by how my bread turns out. I think I know why now. I guess it must be because I've been following the manual too religiously :) I'll give your recipe a shot. Wish me luck :)

Is this suppose to be a 2lb loaf or a 1.5lb loaf? So far, I've been making it in my breadmaker as a 2lb loaf and it's turning out fine. I just wonder if it would turn out different if I set it to 1.5lbs?

Very simple and worked so well. I will always use this recipe for my simple white bread if I'm not using a delayed timer.

It's quite bold to say this is the best bread recipe yet it holds up by every standard! Not only is it the best but it's the easiest too. it couldn't be easier to make and clean up is a breeze. The entire house smells delicious! After sending this off with my friend he wrote back to tell me that it makes an incredible French toast. Thank you for this recipe who ever met who ever provided it... you're a doll! You're making the Nashville mom look like I've got mad baking skills. Please shhhhhh.. Don't tell. Lol

This turned out to be the best bread I've EVER made. My friend took a loaf with him & said it made excellent French Toast. I have dental issues & am not able to eat foods that are hard to chew; the crust is even easy for me. THANK YOU THANK YOU to the doll who posted this!
